I had a panic attack in the grocery store last night... The stress of moving is getting to me. All I could think about what how much everything costs and none of the stuff I wanted was on sale (I usually try to shop the sales but you can't do that when you're starting over!) and I couldn't find some of the groceries I wanted in that store and I couldn't think what to buy when our new oven doesn't work, and it just started to freak me out... I wanted to bolt from the store without buying anything, but I made myself finish the shop. When I tried to tell John what happened he said he was worried about me and the move was supposed to make me better, not worse... Change is difficult for me, and the reality is setting in, but once we've been here a few weeks and everything isn't 'new' I'm sure I'll be fine. Yes it's stressful, and it's GOING to be stressful... but painwise I'm doing really well. I had to take a bunch of pain pills the first few days but this is day 5 and I forgot to take the cane out the car yesterday and I walked all the way around Publix without it. I think we can put the walker away in the closet and forget about it... and that's got to be a good thing!
There's a Twistee Treat by the grocery store and John wanted to try them so we stopped and bought a turtle sundae. Good thing I got some cash out when I got the groceries! Since it was pay day I figured it was time for me to put another $20 in my empty wallet for things that need cash... anyway, it was very disappointing. Five bucks for soft serve icecream and 'whipped cream' that melted in milliseconds when it wasn't even hot? McDonalds has a 'dipped cone' that tastes better than the twistee treat (I haven't voluntarily had McDonalds in years, but when we went to Sawgrass we had to grab lunch before we came home and the choice was that or Burger King, which is totally inedible nowadays!)
After we got home Zho-Zho was looking hopefully at the back door, so I opened it and she and Tessie went into the back yard and started sniffing the grass. I followed them to supervise, but then I realised that there's a gap under the fence that they've patched with a board that leaves holes at both ends, so I had to yell for John to come help herd them back into the house until we can get it fixed... Tessie could easily wiggle through the gap and I couldn't stand to lose her! Needless to say neither of them was happy about being forced to come inside again so quickly!
