Well, the Prison Health Checks went really well. Surprised how easy it was to get in. Reception let me in, checked my name was on their expected visitors and then the PE guy arrived to take me through to the gym where I was to do the checks. NO-ONE checked my ID, NO-ONE checked the huge black holdalI was bringing in with me. I could have had an AK-47 or a M-16 or something in there! Oh well, as I didn’t have either I guess it’s a moot point! All the inmates were really friendly and none gave any problems whatsoever. The one problem I DID have was with the very last patient. Did all his checks including his BP. This came out as 166/104. For the uninitiated that is BLOODY high! So I left it for a few minutes and just chatted, as he’d just been playing table-tennis so that may have been the cause. Took it again with a different size cuff in case that was causing it and got exactly the same result. Told one of the staff who contacted the Prison Healthcare Dept, who asked me to do it again, so I did. This time it was 169/106! If I had been outside doing these I would have been reaching for the phone to get an ambulance and get him into hospital. They checked his medical records and found that when he arrived at the prison, just got off the bus, no exertion, it was 166/112. And he wasn’t on any meds at all! He should have been on a Beta-blocker or ACE inhibitor or something! Anyway, they assured me they will monitor him over the next week. I just hope they do something about it when they find that it stays up, which I am sure it will do.
Update on Lee, leg getting better. Still a little sore but not as bad. Now he has a real doozy of a head cold. Full of snot, coughing like a steam engine and feeling generally rough. Poor kid never seems to cut a break!
My No 1 job seems to be getting busier too. I will be taking over another hospital from a colleague, which makes sense as it’s only 50 miles from me and nearly 100 away from her. And management is in discussion with another hospital not too far away which will be added to my portfolio. So when this Health Check project finishes I will not have time to partake in another one as I will just be too busy with my main one. I’ll be glad as I do enjoy the job more.
Today has been the first really sunny, dry day this year………so I just HAD to get the bike out! Oh my, what joy!! It was a great ride even though it was only to the local Triumph dealer. I have had my Trophy 1200 in for servicing and general fettling to get it back on the road. Cost me a bloody fortune but it will be worth it. Spoke to the Manager there and they are going to include it in their used bike stock and try and sell it for me. They do have a good reputation for doing this for people, and I know them well, through the Triumph Owners Club, so am quite happy to let them do this. It will save me a bundle on advertising and have the hassle of having time wasters visit my home. It will be sad to see it go, but it is just too heavy for me these days and I would still spend most of the time riding the Tiger.
Just looked outside and it’s starting to look black up there now. This is disappointing as I was hoping to go for another ride tomorrow. The Owners’ Club is having a hastily organised run out and I was going to go along with them. Well, fingers crossed it blows over.
Right I feel an afternoon nap coming on. I must be getting old!!
