Oh, those crazy Greeks! Life could not have been dull when dealing with their mythology. So many gods and stories. Eros was the god of love, lust and sexual activity. According to all the Greek myths, Eros was beautiful, but also a constant source of trouble for both gods and mortals.
While I can not prove it, I somehow suspect that something in Pandora’s Box was released that added to Eros being a constant source of trouble. Eros and trouble. They seem to go hand in hand. (Love and Trouble)
The main reason we mortals seem to have trouble with love is found in the definition it’s self. At least in the English language Love can mean so many different things. In Greek and Hebrew, the words are better defined. Agápe, éros, philía, and storgē all mean something different yet are translated to the word love.
It is much like saying I love ice cream. While it is understood it really means I like ice cream a lot it is no wonder things get lost in translation. Could it be the confusion comes from the box? Whatever evil, illness, or punishments were contained in the box one thing is certain, once unleashed, they can never be stopped. Sort of reminds me of the whole Adam, Eve, and serpent story. Two trees, one of knowledge of good and evil, and one known as the tree of life. So why pick the tree of knowledge? Because they thought they would become as gods.
Pandora’s box? Maybe Eros knew something we didn’t.
