Can you name the person who made that line famous? (Sorry Judas is not the correct answer!) If you grew up in the greatest generation of people you will recall a Black, or African American if you please, comedian, named Flip Wilson making that his tag phrase. It was funny. Until you tried to use it and it didn’t hold up.
The devil can not make you do anything you don’t want to. But in today’s society, it is the norm to blame someone else for our mistakes. Accountability is non-existent. It’s not my fault my parents abused me or neglected me. Please, let’s stop playing the blame card and accept responsibility for our stupidity or actions.
As a teenager, I gave into peer pressure and my own desires. While it would have been nice to blame someone else no one made me do anything. I didn’t yield to temptation, I ran right through it. And after I was caught I did not pass go nor collect $200.00. I had to pay the price. Mom and Dad couldn’t pay for my mistakes.
The devil gets a lot of credit for things he has no part of. He might tempt me to do something but that’s as far as it goes. If I succumb it was my choice. Much like the apple on the tree, (which by the way we really don’t know what type of fruit it was), it looked good and was pleasing to the eye.
In closing, I am reminded the grass is always greener over the septic tank. That is a true statement, however, the septic tank is full of crap! So, I asked God for a bike. But I know God doesn’t work that way....So I stole the bike and asked for forgiveness.
