Suppose I’ll take what I like to consider the holistic approach to introducing myself on this new journal site for those of you who are reading me for the first time, haven’t kept up with me in years, or maybe didn’t know some of these things about me. So, I’ll share. Psychologists say that people love to talk about themselves mainly because it enables us to connect through commonalities, so I’d love to hear which, if any, of these, resonates with you, dear readers.

  • I will be turning 49 years old in 13 days, which is also Paul McCartney’s birthday. He is one of my favorite musicians, and during my childhood (and I confess, even now), the song “Birthday” always felt as if it was being personally sung to me.

  • I am a mother of five. Four sons and one daughter. We are all a CRAZY, insanely close family. My oldest just turned 30, and the rest are aged 27, 22, 20, and 15. My daughter is smack dab in the middle of all the boys. I could write about them all day, but in short: we are always joking, very non-traditional, and extremely tight. Three still live at home, because it doesn’t appear they are in a hurry to leave, and the other two rent a half double side-by-side across the street, which I like to refer to as “the umbilical house”. I raised these children almost entirely solo, but I suppose I can get into the who/what/where/when/why/hows another time.

  • I was never married. I was engaged twice, but both times would have most definitely ended in divorce anyway, so I am glad that I was in no hurry to plan and execute (heh) a wedding. I am now in a committed relationship with a wonderful man who I’ve known since I was 15 years old, for approximately 3 1/2 years. This relationship is unlike any I’ve ever had because we are friends, a team. I love him more than I have ever loved any other man.

  • My interests are fiction writing, journaling, reading, Harry Potter (Gryffindor/Ravenclaw), Marvel Universe, craft beers/IPAs, my pug, listening to and playing (attempting) music, singing, art and creating beautiful things when I can, people, hosting parties, walking/being outdoors in warm weather, and jokes/humor.

  • The positive traits: I am selfless, giving, and one hell of a shoulder to lean on. I listen, respect others, and I’m loyal. I don’t gossip. I will not say anything about you that I won’t say to you. I love to laugh, dance, have a great time, and I will make damn sure that within my power, every person in the room is having a good time. I have always had a special spot for the underdog because I have been her myself. I’m laid back and easygoing. I’m far from a harsh judge, to a fault (my weirdo magnet is strong as a result). All of my relationships are of the highest quality - If I love you, I will love you will all of my heart.

  • The negative traits: I am pretty fucking salty at times, and even though it can be pretty funny or so I have been told, I can be raw. I’m moody. I’m a procrastinator. I’m lazy at times. I am my own worst enemy, and I start projects that I don’t always finish. I daydream a lot but do nothing to make those dreams a reality. I am afraid of success, heights, deep water, car accidents, bridges, and trusting other people. I have what seems an impossible time of “letting go” of things that hurt me.

I dislike: social media addiction, wintery weather, high-traffic highways, anything that damages another person’s soul/self-esteem, black licorice, the smell of a cigarette, and most country music (sorry).

Basic outline of me, pretty simple. Any questions, ask!

I tend to like salty people. They are always so honest and what you see is what you get.

Valued Customer Chelez ⋅ June 05, 2019

That's the truth in my case. I try not to mince words, but be as kind as I can possibly be.

The little green flag alerted me to your entry. It felt like mornings from so many years back when writing led to seeing the journals light up on the friend page. I love that! I also love the Umbilical House, too! It is perfect!

Valued Customer Shannonly ⋅ June 05, 2019

I wish I could take total credit for the nickname... my mother's friend used the phrase once in my teens and I overheard it. I think she was talking about her then-boyfriend's house being so close to his mother's. I loved it.
I am feeling so wonderfully nostalgic here. I'm glad it's mutual.

Nin June 05, 2019

You sound like a pretty awesome person!

Valued Customer Nin ⋅ June 05, 2019

Wow - thank you for that!

Rista June 05, 2019

Are the kiddos still doing their own laundry?

Valued Customer Rista ⋅ June 05, 2019

Yes ma’am. And then some...

Rista Valued Customer ⋅ June 05, 2019

BIG WIN!

Valued Customer Rista ⋅ June 05, 2019

YES! They help me a lot more since they got attacked with some serious mom threats.

Mr. Mofo June 05, 2019

Hello new person.

Valued Customer Mr. Mofo ⋅ June 05, 2019

Thank you! Greetings back at ya.

Just Molly June 05, 2019

I’m pretty salty myself, believe it or not. ❤️

Valued Customer Just Molly ⋅ June 07, 2019

Happy to be in good company, then!

I also root for the underdog and have a soft spot as I have been the underdog too. It tears at my heartstrings to see people hurting and I always want to be able to do something about it. However, I, too, can be pretty salty. However I'm an extreme introvert and typically won't be confrontational about it. True story... I totally cussed my sister out in the car today because she needed to be told about herself - but I was the only one in the car. Lol.

I've missed you!

Valued Customer DE_courtney. ⋅ June 07, 2019

HAHA! I used to do that, too! I used to "tell people off" in the shower (before my singing career took off lol)!

DE_Da_Bartender June 06, 2019

You're 50 and you look that good?! I hope I age that well haha, must be the soul that keeps the body together.

I love how you talk about your family, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside

Valued Customer DE_Da_Bartender ⋅ June 07, 2019

Close! I'll be 49 this month, though I say "pushing 50" all the time. Thank you! I used to like to say that it is because I "lead a sheltered life", but I have been having more fun for the past few years, so I expect to wake up looking like Estelle Getty any day now...
