Back After Awhile... in 2019

Cori and I are currently on our way back to Virginia (don’t worry, he’s driving). The last several months have been a whirlwind, and to be honest after my grandpa died I kind of… lost interest in a lot of things.

We actually bought a house! It’s in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, near one of the rivers. We closed on April 9th and moved in on April 12, officially leaving the apartment completely at the end of April. The house is pretty awesome EXCEPT the kitchen… we bought the house for a fair price knowing we wanted to renovate the kitchen soon, but it was actually one of the least expensive houses we looked at so we figured maybe we could finance a reno. It’s an updated kitchen but it’s TINY. Only one person at a time can be in there, and whoever designed that kitchen must not actually cook. We can’t even open the freezer or microwave doors all the way. And one of the entrances to the kitchen is mostly blocked by a heating duct that juts out from the wall.

We also set the wedding date for September 21st of this year. It won’t be a big thing… I wish we could do a little more but money is still a concern. We decided to have it at the Cincinnati Observatory (also where Cori proposed) and we probably won’t have more than 30 guests, maybe 40 if everyone shows up. I spent a great deal of time regretting waiting so long… because I really wanted Grandpa to be there. His death has really messed me up, and it makes me question my decisions and I freeze any time I have to choose, even for minor things.

One of the reasons we are going back home (besides wanting to, and my birthday being tomorrow), is we can finally move stuff from my parents’ house to ours. But I nearly flipped out deciding whether we wanted a 28’ U-Pack trailer or a 16’ PODS. U-Haul was out of the question for me as Cori is too tall to drive one and I had a hard enough time with two round trips from the apartment to the new house, there was no way I could do a 500+ mile trip in one of those things.

I haven’t felt much like writing in here. I think a lot of things have felt… weird.

Oh! We also adopted two kitties ! Ultimately I want a dog but these two cats already have experience with dogs and they LOVE each other, so I’m hopeful. Mostly I’m hoping mom and dad can move out here and then mom can help let the dog out if Cori and I are at work all day (especially if I get a 9-5 job eventually). Dad is planning on retiring this October (we will see), and mom wants them to move back to Ohio where we are, and that would be spring 2020.

It took forever but… things are progressing.
