The World Is Your Oyster in Life After 60

Have you ever eaten an Oyster? Me neither. They do not appeal to my palette. And when I was 18, as the world lay before me, it didn’t appeal to me either. I suddenly realized that I was not prepared for what life had to offer me. Actually I was totally clueless. I was still immature. But alas, I walked across that high school stage, took my diploma, and stepped out into the cold, cruel world, where the real learning would begin.
Life can be very unforgiving. For some the road is nothing short of miserable days and death. And yet we are told we can become anything we want, the world is your oyster. I would have to call B.S. on that one. Our destiny is set long before graduation. Even before we are born. It was not in the cards for me to be President of the United States. I was born into the wrong family.
Neither of my parents had a high school education. And that is sad, because they never impressed upon me the importance of an education. Don’t get me wrong, I am not one of those “It’s their fault” persons. The fault lies clearly with me. But back then you didn’t need an education to get a job. Not even a good job.
But times have changed. And the world is still not my oyster. But to be truthful, there is only one thing that I lack-----True Love
