So...Nemma maybe seems a bit better today? He's had 2 doses of the lasix and we've separated him from Nigel (they're always getting into tiffs and it's stressful for the Nemma). He slept with mum and she said he didn't have any coughing fits during the night. I kind of wonder if there's also an environmental component to it. He likes to spend a lot of time hiding under a desk drawer and it's not an area that's well-ventilated or gets cleaned so there's probably buildup of...who knows what. Dust, hair, dander...he's probably peed under there so ammonia...poo particles? So that could be irritating his airways. He hasn't had access to it since yesterday. His cough also doesn't seem as squeaky and he's not breathing as hard. I want to take a sleeping respiratory rate later to see if it's improved since yesterday's 36 breaths per minute, which was too high.

Guess who spent another afternoon at the vet's office? This girl! And with a different dog. Mum noticed last night that Gracie would yelp when you tried to pick her up and apparently this morning she seemed painful and was maybe limping. When I got home from school I tried to elicit a pain response by palpation and range of motion but didn't get anything but could sort of see a limp in the front. Aaron and I brought her in and, of course, she was very stoic for Dr. D's exam as well. We tried walking her down the hallway but she was nervous and walked very stiffly. We all saw her sort of limping but it was weird and such that we couldn't determine which side it was on. Poor Dr. D, he keeps getting these annoying, mysterious cases from us. He did a nail trim on her, because she has weird nails that want to grow into her pads so that could have been a potential source and sent us home with some rimadyl. He'll check in Mondayish on both dogs to see what's up and we'll go from there.

Given that Gracie is so small (5.6 lbs as of today) and has to jump up and down to get in "her" (mum's) bed, mum decided she wanted to get a ramp to make it easier on her and her joints. I've looked into it and I do not like any of the available pet ramps. They're clunky, take up a lot of space, look like they could collapse or hurt someone...nothing looks very nice. So Aaron and I put our heads together and came up with a solution: sex furniture. We're going to get one of the large ramps made by Liberator.

This one:

I know it's kind of weird but, we have a smaller one used for its intended purpose and it's really nice. Soft, easy to move, washable cover. Plus, the larger one's height is just 3 inches shorter than The bed, so it's pretty much perfect. Sure it's a bit more expensive than most of the standard pet ramps but with a promotional coupon, it isn't terribly, Plus, Gracie is my mum's world so she's pay almost anything for her to be comfortable. I told mum about it description-wise but not what it actually is. I can't wait to tell her, when it arrives, that we've bought her dog a sex toy! She'll get a kick out of it :D
