A lot has been going on. We took a trip to Fort Myers Beach for April break. We got a room overlooking the beach. It seemed like an extravagance but except for meals and souvenirs we didn’t really spend money on anything else. The weather was beautiful and we just stayed at the beach the whole time. The place where we stayed was a rather large resort. There was a pool, restaurant, beach volleyball net, and of course lots of beach. We had a kitchen in the room so we were able to have some meals there. We also went out to eat a few times. The resort had a tiki bar and grill. There were quite a few tourists from Europe staying at the resort.

Kayla and Timmy hung out with some other kids in the sixteen to eighteen year old range who were also staying at the resort. It was hard for me to have them hanging around with kids they had just met. Although I know they will be in college in a year and choosing their own friends. They weren’t allowed to go beyond a certain section of the beach.

We considered Aaron too young to go off by himself so he mostly hung around with us. We had a lot of waves while we there, unusual for the Gulf of Mexico. He went boogie boarding quite a bit. I went swimming and sat on the beach reading. I read a book about a flight attendant who gets involved in a very dramatic situation. It was interesting and good beach reading.

That could be an entry in itself! We have a lot more going on. This past weekend Timmy and Kayla went to the junior class dance. It was Timmy’s first time in a tux. Kayla had a black and white dress. The skirt flared slightly. We found it in one of the stores we looked at and it was terrific for her. We went to the salon that afternoon to get her hair done. They each were going with a group of friends. The parents shared the expense of renting a limo for the kids. They went out for dinner at an Italian restaurant, then to the dance at a country club. They also went to the after party.

This coming week Kayla and Timmy have advanced placement exams. On Monday they have U.S. Government and Politics. On Thursday they have Chemistry. The exams start at 7:30 am.

Aaron will be participating in a robotics competition as part of the school robotics club this month. He will also be going on the eighth grade class trip to Washington, D.C.

And then a week from Saturday is the twins’ seventeenth birthday. Eight days later is Aaron’s fourteenth birthday.
