Got a call from Lee this morning to let us know he was on his way to the local ED because his leg was hurting badly.
He had a fall on Friday when the wind was so strong it literally took him of his feet…..errr….foot! Of course, having only one leg his balance is not perfect and the strong wind and wet pavements combined to cause him to end up on his ass! Over the weekend his leg has become more swollen and painful. He contacted us after he’d been seen and he has 2 cracks in his tibia (shinbone). They wanted to put him in plaster but how the hell would he have got about if they had? His wheelchair is up here with us, and he needs to get about to find a place to live permanently down there.
We’ve spoken to him again tonight and he’s a little easier after a day of painkillers. He will just spend a couple more days there and then come back here. When he does we will run him down to the ED up here and see if he still needs to go into plaster. He was supposed to be down there for a couple of weeks and to be honest the time Dawn and I have really enjoyed quality time while he’s been away!
Been a busy day today. We bought some bark chippings yesterday for the chicken run. With all the rain we’ve had the place looked like a quagmire. Not good for the chickens’ feet. SO I put that down in the run and it seems a lot nicer for them. With any luck the rain will run through it and not pool on the surface. We also cleaned their coop out as we do every week, and gave them some nice clean sawdust for them to sleep, poop and lay eggs in!
This afternoon we went out to lunch with Mum at one of the local hostelries. We do this at least once a month and she really enjoys it. It’s frightening, as she approaches her 80th birthday, to see how she is going downhill. She has arthritis really bad especially in her knees, but it is affecting her back too now. She is due to go to get an XRay to see exactly how bad it is as she is always in a lot of pain. Then there will be more blood tests and hopefully the GPs will be able to get a handle on her pain levels and give her at least a little bit more ease in getting about.
Today’s weather has been absolutely glorious. No wind, no rain, sunshine and up to 8 degrees C. Forecast tonight says don’t get used to it, normal service will be resumed tomorrow! Wonderful.
And on that cheery note I will say goodnight, dear readers.
