Out and About in Public

Well, we finally made it out, together. I go out a lot but rarely with Liam.

The day started out slowly and it wasn’t looking good but then I decided I was going out with or without him, especially because I needed to get a prescription from Downtown, which is about 30 minutes from us. (Imagine this, it was made by an ACTUAL chemist, and picked up from a locally owned and operated pharmacy.) I took a nice long bath while Liam napped and then showered and woke him up, then I did my hair and woke him up again. We managed to get out of the apartment at a reasonable time and I was thankful.

We grabbed my RX and then were planning an early dinner but there wasn’t any parking and really, 330 is too early for us. So we decided to drive along the coast from south Fort Lauderdale. We ended in Pompano Beach at a little Italian restaurant. It was good. The weather was perfect for cruising along in Liam’s shiny convertible. My hair doesn’t love that car but I do enjoy feeling the sunshine on my face.

We came back home after dinner and on the way I mentioned that I was craving vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce. Liam said he’d stop at a convenience store so I could get the ice cream and that’s when I realized I could simply melt peanut butter and pour it over the ice cream. It was so good and a real splurge for me this week as I’ve been trying to cut back on sugar.

Tomorrow is church for me, and I think I prefer the 11am service time so I’ll probably start attending at that slot. It also gives Liam a chance to really sleep in on Sunday’s without me pestering him to get moving. I am hoping to start serving at United, I put my application for the tech-production team in and was contacted by the Worship Pastor, Steve. So we’ll see what comes of that. In His time, I know that much.

After church we’re supposed to be meeting at the Winn-Dixie so we can grocery shop. We’re starting week 1 of the FODMAP elimination diet (Liam has bad IBS and this is meant to help his GI, not help us lose weight). We need to get all the fresh ingredients for this elimination stage (which lasts 2-4 weeks). We’ll be eating good meals but the same meals for a few weeks until we start (slowly) adding foods back into our diet, this way we can see what foods effect his tummy in the bad ways.

Once we get home we’ll spend sometime prepping the meals and snacks and getting things portioned for the week. I think we also need to make the oats, which need to be cooked for several hours. We’ll see how things go. I’m excited to help Liam find some tummy relief and I know that even with the extra grocery $$ output it’ll save us in the long run.

Not sure what our plans are for the holiday but as Fort Lauderdale beaches were heaving today I’m hoping we’re going to stay in. We’ll see I guess.

I hope you all had lovely Saturdays!
