I don’t even have a creative title for this entry. It’s fucking freezing up in hurr. Currently, it is -26 with a “Real Feel” of -39…which is about 20 degrees warmer than it was at 7 a.m…and about 30 degrees warmer than it was at 3 a.m. I had to run out real quick yesterday and it was SO GOD DAMN COLD!!!!
The kids had a late start on Monday and have been off Tuesday & Wednesday. Tomorrow is gonna be up in the air. Then Saturday, it’s supposed to be 36 degrees! That’s literally a 100 degree difference! We’re headed down to Minneapolis on Saturday to stay over night at a hotel because Maddie competes on Sunday at 8 a.m. (The 23rd, she doesn’t compete until 11:15 a.m., so we will just drive down in the morning.)
She does still have practice tonight, but it’s not mandatory. She missed on Friday because she got a case of diarrhea and it was even in her undies, so James brought her home and she slept for like forever. I think she was just really overtired and needed rest. But she REALLY needs the practice tonight because she’s really worried about not doing well at this competition because it’s pretty tough. I told her that as long as she tries her hardest and does her best, we will be proud of her. Although, it will be awesome if she DOES come home with some hardware!!!
I don’t know how many of her teammates will come to practice tonight. Recreational classes are cancelled and Team practices are optional. My car isn’t starting at the moment, but James is coming home early to get his truck and my vehicle started.
I know anyone living in warmer climates can’t even comprehend the arctic weather, but it’s hard for even Minnesotans & Wisconsinites to deal with these temperatures!!!! Our furnace had gone out last week and I’m SO HAPPY it was not this week. Several people have lost heat & power. How awful! They talk about the homeless living in conditions like this and people leaving their pets outside. Ugh. I couldn’t imagine!
I made a new recipe last night. Chicken Parmesan! It was good…I would do some things differently next time. James said it was good. He’s never had it before.
When we go down to MPLS this weekend, we’re going to Buca di Bepo for dinner. I am SO excited! If you don’t know what it is, it’s a family style, Italian restaurant (where you can’t get a FRICKIN’ PLAIN BURGER). So, you can order a lasagna (for example) to feed 3 people and you pay per person…so, $21. But you get a TON of food. And I don’t know exactly how kids prices work, but we’ll get a salad of some sort and then a couple entrees. It’s only a 6 minute walk from our hotel, so being that it’s going to be A HUNDRED DEGREES WARMER than today…it’ll feel amazing. Haha. We’re going to eat early (like 4) and get back to the hotel so the kids can swim for a while!
Alrighty. Enough complaining about the weather and talking about delicious food! :)
I’ll give an update after her competition. Good vibes!
