Content. That is how I am feeling today. Content. Its a winter day for sure. So much beautiful snow out there. We are having a quiet day as a family. No expectations. Not going to ski. We were in our pj's until 11:30. Late breakfast made by husband and daughter. Afterward the kids suited up and trekked out in the snow. Husband was clearing the driveway. I went out to join the kids but they had already found peeps and were quite occupied building snow forts with them. I got my snowshoes out from the attic and trekked around the yard a bit. Husband did the same. Daughter wanted to try mine. I was able to cinch then down enough, but they are too long for her short legs. She enjoyed trying them all the same. So that was 2 new adventure for her this weekend. Yesterday husband took her ice skating at a local pond. The place is a currier and ives scene. So pretty. She was a reluctant skater, but husband said that it only took a few minutes and she couldn't get enough of it. Made friends with 2 girls there. She came home and was very excited about the whole experience. Son didn't go because he does not have skates right now. We want to get him out there too. I have skates, but they are not at all comfortable and skating is not one of my favorite things. I will do it however, if our kids both take to it.
2 dates with my husband this weekend. Friday we sent the kids to a parents night out sponsored by our village. The kids get to play, eat, craft and watch a movie from 6 -9. We sent them last month and the loved it. We went out to dinner with some friends. This month we decided to stay in. Made a delicious dinner of surf and turf. Had good wine and good sex. Watched a non-kid-friendly movie and felt a closeness not always felf with my husband. Couldn't ask for more. Last night, date #2 was at a college hoops game. We go to one game per year with 2 other couples that we have been friends with for years but don't get to see but maybe twice a year. Had a great time. Our team won by the skin of their teeth. Good friends, good food, good micro-brew and lots of laughs.
I am a fortunate woman and I need to keep reminding myself that. I have a lot. And I get to share this life with a good man. We may not be exactly right for each other, but we make it work. We are exactly where we are supposed to be.
