We are the most proudly selfish generation ever. Pathetic phrase, "Do it for YOU!" has really been getting on my nerves lately along with those commercials at Christmas that encourage you to get something for yourself. We have not been labeled the ME Generation for nothing. And it's odd because I would venture a guess that most people were brought up like me, told to put others first, etc. We were raised with a charitable mindset yet we have his for ourselves attitude as if we are constantly doing stuff for other people and forget about ourselves. That assumption is so ludicrous in a generation that is so about us and ours. Yes, we spend enormous amounts of time running around for OUR kids and OUR jobs - but bottom line, that ultimately for us. It's not like we're poor waifs in need of pampering and attention. There's nothing wrong with doing things for yourself or getting things for yourself. I think the wrong comes in doing or getting those things with an attitude of entitlement instead of gratitude and at the expense of others that you my be able to help if you jut sacrificed even a very small portion of those things.
