I had another orthopedics bone lab today and it was hilarious. The professor is...weird. I like him but he has kind of a do-whatever-you-want-as-long-as-it's-sort-of-what-you're-supposed-to-be-doing attitude. He doesn't give us detailed instructions, so we kind of wing it. Somehow it works. I think he just wants us to understand the general mechanics of various fracture fixations so the materials and techniques used aren't completely foreign to us when we have to use them, should we choose to...I dunno. I played with power tools and metal thingies and sort of fixed an oblique fracture on a plastic dog femur. It was fun! But I kind of never want to use an electric screwdriver on a living thing.

I was kind of happy that I had a lot of homework and test preparation today. Weird. I think I've been conditioned to expect exams 1-3 times per week and when that doesn't happen I don't know how to function and it makes me panic in a different than usual way. Kind of sad but hopefully I'll learn how to be a non-student when I'm out in the real world.

I have a live bird lab tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect. I think we're going to be trying to draw blood....and I don't know what else. I've never successfully drawn blood on a bird (and I think I've only tried twice so not that surprising haha) so I hope this will be a helpful lab. I also want to work on my bird restraint too. I got OK at it working at my vet clinic this summer but you can't have too much practice and I want to know other methods.

My mouth feels all garlicky. Oh, the joys of Lebanese food!

In the spirit of the Olympics, I give you this:

This made me laugh so much!
