Crap day, crap week!
Seems like it’s been a long time already since I last wrote here! I’ve definitely got the urge to write more again so I guess the move here is a positive one. This week work has been a total clusterf**k! Seemed like all my appointments were a long distance away and it was my first event for the “new job” of the Health Checks. The venue was 2 ½ hours drive away along a well-known road for getting clogged up at rush hour, which of course, was when I was travelling despite leaving at 06.45. I lost half hour in the hold ups, but still managed to make it to the venue in plenty of time, only to find that there was no parking nearby! We had to use a municipal car park that charged, and then drag all my equipment ( a large, heavy, but luckily wheeled(!) holdall) about 400 yards to the venue. By the time I’d sorted all this out and then set up the equipment and got ready, the first appointment was waiting ! The actual place we were given to conduct these checks was also not appropriate, but due to lateness I didn’t get the chance to complain about it. We were stuck right in the foyer with everyone walking past while we asked the patients questions about their diets and family history. Quite a few times as I was conducting the test or asking questions, we were interrupted by one of the patients friends butting in to chat to them! On top of all this while we were there the heavens opened and we got the wind and rain that had been forecast. I was stuck there till 16.00, then had to pack all my equipment away, drag it back round to the car park in the pouring rain, and set off for home. The journey was a nightmare. Once again it was rush hour and congestion time, coupled with the encroaching darkness and driving rain , by the time I arrived home at 18.45 I was absolutely knackered! I quit working in the hospital cos I didn’t like 12 hour days, and when it is coupled with the stress of the driving conditions I like it even less! I have other days booked in for these Health Checks, 3 more at the same venue and other days at places the same amount of distance away! There are 2 and 3 day events together which I will be staying in a local hotel as I am not enduring those conditions/hours again. Away from work things are all good. Lee is going down to Cornwall again next week to see if he can find a new place down there. Weather there is really quite bad at the moment with gale force winds and flooding but its not putting him off at all! Vicki is still down there and staying indoors keeping safe. Paula and Dawn went out together today for some retail therapy and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. So home life is all good. All the pets are fine even the chickens despite the weather! We have been putting them into the shed earlier in the evenings to keep them a bit drier! The Triumph Trophy has gone into the dealers to be fettled ready for sale. Certainly not my kind of riding weather at the moment but you never know, there may be some foolhardy soul a lot younger than me that is prepared to brave the elements! It seems like a lot of ODers have made the emigration over to Prosebox, which I am glad of. It will be great to keep in touch with lives that I have become entwined in over the last few years. I hope some more arrive now OD has definitely ceased to be. OK, people, I’m outta here. Later! Hugz RNBiker
