This week I made my weekly trip to Little River Park after my short shift on Wednesday.
I was pretty excited to get there because it was just about to be 3 pm and i usually get off by 8-ish so I was going to enjoy some sunshine this time.
Upon arriving i noticed there was a slight breeze, not much of a cool one but it was better than nothing. I’ve actually been noticing that though the days have been warm, they haven’t been as warm as the ones mid summer. Fall is almost here! I try not to get to excited because if you live in El Paso, you know that our winter time is nothing compared to other cities because of our warm weather but again, its better than nothing.
Another thing I have noticed is that I sort of catch myself now when I’m out shopping, or with friends how much is being wasted around us. Our go-to vending machines are always available at our convenience when we get thirsty but that means if 5 of us buy a drink, that’s 5 more bottles being disposed of. Of course there’s recycling bins but now after watching The Story of Bottled Water we know that even that isn’t so effective. What’s insane is that even if one didn’t care about recycling, or saving the planet and “blah blah blah” there’s always water fountains that provide us with clean drinkable water, for FREE that one can simply use to fill a reusable bottle with.
I reflect on this things I sit under a shaded bench at the park, my view doesn’t include a city skyline or an ocean but i see our beautiful Franklin Mountains, and how clean our park looks. I wish the whole world looked this nice.
