Wishing.... in At the foot of the hill

I am not one to wish I were somewhere other than where I am. But today I do. I wish I were in Montana with my daughter and her family because they are celebrating my granddaughter’s newborn son with a baby shower. Granddaughter is a single mom. Under the circumstances, it will be better this way. She will be staying with her parents for awhile, catching her breath and figuring out a plan. She finished her college classes on Thursday, May 3 and was in the process of moving back to Montana when the little guy decided to make his appearance.
It was four weeks before he was expected and things got pretty hectic. I’m sure they haven’t got everything back to normal yet… nor will normal ever be quite the same for them....
We wanted to wait until after he was born and they got used to having him in the house before we descended on them, so we planned to go up around the end of June or first part of July. We will still probably do that. They are planning his baptism for that time frame and I would still choose to be there for that rather than the shower.
Still, I am feeling left out and lonely this lovely afternoon. All those other people are holding my great grandson and squeezing his knee and touching his chin and I’m home alone with an old man and the Colorado Rockies on TV. ~sigh~

At least she made it home. Hugs at you both.

But not before the baby was born... she went into labor before they were ready to travel, so that was the good thing.
