Gee, are we boring now?? in A New Beginning

I don’t really think that Joe and I are boring. But we have a lot of friends (in our Wiccan group) who have more money than us, and so they are always travelling. One of my covenmates is going to ICELAND in September, as a 60th birthday gift to herself!! At first I was rather jealous! I was like, “Well I am sixty! Where’s MY trip to Iceland??” :oD !! In fact, ANOTHER woman I know is in Iceland right now! And in fact, ANOTHER woman I know was in Iceland awhile back. So, like, what the hell now? Is EVERYBODY but me getting to go to Iceland?! `And I really need you to understand that normally I am not the sort of person who covets what other people have. Not at all! I have just always loved my own stuff. But gee. Iceland! I love the pristine, stark white beauty of cold places. To me, THAT is exotic! I just love it! Love, love, love, love, LOVE it!!
And then, GEE WHIZ, a FB friend of mine who is a friend of our daughter Carrie (they were school friends) and her family has just moved back to NEW ZEALAND! They spent a year there, several years ago, when her husband was on sabbatical from the university he teaches at. They moved back to the States at the end of the year, but soon realized that the States no longer felt like Home to them. So this past week, after selling their house, they moved back to New Zealand! To ChristChurch!
Joe, the kids and I lived in England for nearly three years when we were an Air Force family. And I never wanted to leave. And right now, the ONLY place I ever feel homesick for is England. I’m not sad, but the feeling does pull one’s heartstrings a bit.
The thing is, we have the money right now, we COULD travel overseas somewhere. But to be honest, after all the world events since 9/11, we are NOT eager to fly anywhere. And also, it would be a good bit of money for the two of us. Money we could use for other things. There are places to go in the States and Canada! And we will enjoy them! I feel incredibly thankful that we actually got to LIVE IN ENGLAND. :o)
I bought the whole big collection of “Rick Steves’ Europe” travel tv shows! Every day I am watching some. I am learning a good bit about European history....some of which I might have known, but forgot.
Guinness is out front on his chain right now, and boy is he ever having fun barking at every person, critter, or thing that he sees! It’s nice and shady out front too, so it’s a good place for him to be. I AM GETTING SOME PEACE!! :o)
I have a goal this summer of getting this messy house straightened up. I know how we are; it will not stay that way for long! But if I chip and poke away at the mess some every day, I can make strides! It’s something constructive to do anyhow. Now that Joe has started back to work (as of today), I ought to do a LITTLE something each day. ;o)

I don't think you guys are boring, quite interesting in fact, not everyone is willing to share their spiritual journey when it's not the norm, I'm glad you do,

I love hearing about Guinness,

enjoy your peace and cleaning, lol :)

I used to dream about traveling when I retired. Now I am, but now neither my health nor my finances are up to it. I was fortunate to go on a few trips over the years anyway. I'd still love to take a cruise.

It would be nice for you and Joe to go back to England and see your old stompin' grounds. You could probably plan it so it wouldn't cost a lot of money too. But I understand the inertia that comes with the years - oh do I. It's just so much easier to stay home.
So good to hear from you. And I too love to hear about Guiness. Gracie says hi.
