Out with the old in At the foot of the hill

This is the next-to-last day of 2017. Looking back, I’m remembering some really scary times and some really good times.
The scary times came with Bob’s health issues. In March he had a real bad case of bronchitis. He coughed so hard he broke a blood vessel in his stomach (abdomen, I guess it was). He developed a vey large hematoma and was sick a long time. I got sick too, but nothing like he did.
He hadn’t completely got his strength back in June when his gall bladder developed gangrene. Luckily, he had an excellent surgeon and got thru that without serious complications, but, then again, it took a lot out of him.
He is much better now, but it was a long, slow healing process.
Some much anticipated plans had to be scrapped. Between that and the worry, I got pretty “down”. I hurt some people’s feelings and lost a good friend along the way because of it.
Things started getting better when our daughter Rhonda and her husband and oldest daughter came in October and spent a week with us. We had such a lovely time.
Then in November, Bob and I flew out to Southern California and spent two weeks over Thanksgiving with my sister and her family. They treated us royally and the trip itself was easy. (Thinking of going back, actually.)
We had some quality time with son Mike and his family over Christmas. They are so busy we don’t get to spend much time with them any more so we are very thankful for any chance to hang out with them.
Mike had a fun year with his music. Besides being booked at many area brew/pubs on weekends, he did a couple of private parties and participated in a concert. We were able to go to most of his shows. He also made a couple of trips to Tennessee to attend some song writers’ conferences. One of these days you all going to be hearing about him (she said proudly).
I am looking forward to a quiet New Year’s weekend. There will be a party here in our building that usually lasts until they drop the ball in NYC–that’s 10:00 PM here–late enough for us old folks.
However you choose to finish off 2017, please be safe and warm. We have good stuff to look forward to.

Thank you for leaving a note on my blog. My New Years will be as quiet as my Christmas was. I like that. Take Care and have a Happy New Year.

They delay the ball drop here.
So very glad he is feeling better.
Hugs and happy New Year to both of you
