Darker nights, colder weather in It's a Suhaila!

How depressing it is to be putting the light on at half past three in the afternoon… but when it’s overcast and you’re trying to catch up on work in poor light there is no other option. I need to be up to speed as I am rapidly approaching the end of my first year of studies, and with exams now lurking rather than looming I really need to be on my game.

It’s also the run-up to Christmas. Coming from a non-Christian background, I am pretty nonplussed about it all, however as usual the pressure comes from “What presents are you wanting/getting?” Er hello, I’m not Christian? At the risk of upsetting any Christian readers, and I am sorry if I do, it seems to me that the whole event has been hijacked by commecialism as an excuse to sell a load of toys, goods and stuff and the whole meaning of the event simply is lost.

This does however make it difficult with Scott. He’s feeling obliged that as his girlfriend he should be getting me something and something special at that, but on the other hand as I’m not part of it, it makes it very hard for me to accept. What I have suggested is that he goes for something small and useful - a good thing could be a book token for any books I may need to buy for my next year of studies, or even a box of chocolates, nothing really fancy.

I’d better wrap up here as Jasmine is wanting me to tuck her in to bed and say goodnight to her!

Oh and just something of a cliffhanger.... there may be a family news announcement soon… stay tuned!
