Hard Freeze and Dad is better! in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

Dad is being released from the hospital today. He ended up receiving 4 units of blood having several tests and they “think” the bleeding was caused by the Diverticulitis. I did finally feel better yesterday so went up to see him at the hospital. He was talking and thinking like his old self which brought a huge amount of relief. I thought we were good to go until he mentioned he thought he’d just come home and stay a day or two before he went back to the Nursing Home. Oy Vay! His mind IS better he just doesn’t realize how sick he has been and how important it is to have trained medical folks checking him routinely.

Apparently while I was at church this morning the Hospital called my cell and house phone to say one of us needed to come and get him to take him to the Nursing Home. They ended up calling my brother since they couldn’t get me, and the Nursing Home had evidently told the hospital to call one of us. Well, brother called the Nursing Home and they preceded to say that they didn’t do transport on the weekend. WHAT? It would have been funny if it hadn’t been aid from a Nursing Home. What happens when the resident doesn’t have relatives or relatives in a 30 mile radius? Nursing Home said they would have call one of the other staff in to transport Dad, and brother said, ok, when? They were/are supposed to call him when they have a plan. I wouldn’t care to go up and get him but with our final few words before I left him yesterday, I think it would be a bad idea for any of us to get him from the hospital in case he thinks we’re bringing him home. Then when we don’t bring him to his own house, it would be ugly.

Our temperature was down to 24 degrees this morning and most all of the outside plants look like it. Droopy and pretty much dead now. I knew it was bound to happen and it did early this morning. It is supposed to be in the 50s the beginning of the work week and then finally get into the 70s on Thursday. Thursday sounds like a good day for the final mowing/mulching and then put the mowers away until Spring. I need to plant my Tulip bulbs that day too but if not I believe we’ll have a few more warm but not too warm days to get that done.

I turned another year over yesterday. It was a good day. J wanted to take me out for supper last night and he was insistent that going out for b’day supper with family was a requirement. LOL I guess I’ve done that since I usually take the kids out for supper for their b’days. We went to Cracker Barrel and I doubt I’ll be anxious to go back for a long while. I ordered the special which was chicken and rice with gravy/sauce and green beans and house salad for my sides. The rice was under cooked, the chicken was dry and even the salad was not really tasty. The green beans were good tho. J enjoyed his meal but it has to be pretty bad for J not to eat a cheeseburger and fries. And real fries and not cauliflower fries like I cook at home these days.

Monday-30 Oct 17
It is a little after 11 and I’ve been to Walmart, finished some laundry, gathered up all the trash except for taking it to the big trash cans. Will take the big bags out to the barrels later this afternoon. Have to put big tubs on top of the metal barrels to hopefully keep the huge racoon from dragging everything out.

Had a good birthday weekend and A and O took J and I to a Mexican Restaurant yesterday evening. So much better than Cracker Barrel! A and O went to Walmart to get some shopping done and I should have, just didn’t realize I needed stuff too until this AM. Oh well, it is done and put away and I’m back home.

Didn’t sleep very good last night and may take a nap in a bit. Don’t know if it will happen but I sure could use an hour of sleep.

Need to organize again, still, always. I plan to get more done today. Thanksgiving is looming over me. *Sigh It will be fine.
