Sooooooooooo stressed tonight... Scouty's got an abscess on the base of her tail. Somebody must have bit her and her fur's so thick I didn't know anything was wrong until she started leaving icky little blood spots everywhere this afternoon. I managed to get a good look at her tail after she had dinner and sure enough there's a tiny raw spot surrounded by a heck of a lot of gunky matted fur... poor baby. We'll have to take her to the vet first thing in the morning to make sure she's okay. Just another thing to do tomorrow and another unexpected expense that we really can't afford. :(
John told his friend Tony that he'd go pick him up tomorrow and bring him over here to help me pack stuff... Tony's broke so we're supposed to give him a hundred bucks. That seems like a LOT of money to me! I don't think I've got more than a couple of hours work for him to do this weekend, but we'll see... he can cart all the donation stuff down to the car and take it to the thrift store, and a friend is coming over to pick up our old tv so he can lug that downstairs with some help (it's a tube tv, not a flat panel)... I'll get him to take down all the stuff on the walls and pull the hangers out, then he can put a little putty in them. John says we need to fill in all the nail holes and touch up the paint. Seems like a lot of work to me, but whatever he wants... if Tony can do it then I don't have to.
I spent today sorting out junk in my craftroom and I got a LOT of stuff to give away. I'm going to give the crafty stuff to the library for their kids program, if they want it. And everything else goes to Good Will because they're the most conveniently located thrift store and they take donations on Saturdays. John says he'll drop me and Scouty at the vet then go get Tony and hopefully by the time they get back we'll be done at the vet. She shouldn't need anything major, just an antibiotic shot I guess (I hope). She's NOT a cat who can be pilled under any circumstances. If you thought pilling Silver was difficult, Scouty is plain impossible. And she's very fussy about her food, so putting the meds into food doesn't generally work - she can tell something's fishy and she won't eat it!
Also stressed because we don't know when we'll be able to get into the new apartment... we were originally suppose to go up there tomorrow (the 31) to sign the lease and inspect the duplex we're actually going to be living in, but the tenant is being a BLEEP and refusing to leave and they're going to court! So we have to pay a whole month's rent here instead of giving two weeks notice, and I just hope and pray that we can actually get into the apartment before the end of February, because we have to give our notice here and I'm having nightmare visions of the 1st March rolling around and we still don't have any place to go to! Also praying that the tenant doesn't totally destroy the place before she finally leaves. Sounds like it's going to be a police-on-the-door-step-you-have-four-hours-to-get-your-stuff-out-of-here eviction. :(
And John's in a FOUL mood tonight because he worked late and he doesn't feel well. :(
