An entry that took 9 days in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

This was started on the 10th of October and life interrupted–And it is only Tuesday. Let me start with yesterday. Woke up at 3 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I know....waaah. Discovered my 3 or 4 yr old Goldfish Tata, died. Gave him the porcelain burial. I know, a bit cold, but never developed a “bond” with Tata.

My cousin had called from the big city over the weekend and said he was coming down on Monday and would pick Dad up and bring him home for a few days. OK. Oy Vay. Cousin is 70 and Dad-88. Last time cousin came to visit he mostly slept in th......

Oct 19 2017 4:40 pm. and that is as far as I got on that Tuesday. Another Tuesday has came and went since then and a whole lot of things have happened. Cousin did come down that Monday and picked Dad up at the nursing home and brought him down too. Dad was doing really great and we were all impressed with his ability to get around with his cane. On Monday evening before I started the entry on the 10th, I took A out for her b’day supper and cousin and dad joined us. They rode with me there and back and then on Tuesday I had a dentist appointment. Not sure now, but think I started this before I left for the dentist appointment. After the dentist appointment I went to dad’s, picked him up and met my brother at dad’s bank to add my name to his accounts. Dad couldn’t find his ID in his wallet and it panicked all of us, but thankfully the bank had a copy of his driver’s license so they used that instead. Dad was fretting about someone being able to write checks on his account since he was sure his ID had been stolen. It didn’t matter that they didn’t have any of his checks as he said they could go to a bank and get a counter check. Remember those? I do, but they are no more at least not without knowing the account number and a few other security things. Anyway, when we got back to his house, I told him to give his wallet so I could look. Found them. Both of them. Relief returned. They stayed at his house until it was time for them to come here for supper. I can’t even remember what I fixed but sure it was good. ;) Both fell asleep after supper and finally woke up around 9 to go to dad’s house. I went to bed.

Wed Dude came down to visit dad and then a neighbor friend of dad’s came to visit him in the afternoon. All his company went home and that evening they came here again for supper. I knew Dad wasn’t feeling great but figured it had been a busy day of visiting but then he put his jacket on after supper and just a few minutes after that I noticed him zipping it up. I asked if he was cold and needed a blanket. He said no, but thought it was time to go back to his house. He had decided to go back to the nursing home Thursday morning. Since cousin was leaving that day too he said he would just take dad on back and drop him back at the Nursing Home. Ok. Thursday morning Dad was running a slight fever and we got everything ready. He was really having a rough time of it but we finally got cousin’s vehicle packed and dad in his vehicle. I found out the next morning that the nursing home had sent dad by ambulance to the ER early Friday morning and he supposedly had diverticulitus. That is spelled wrong, but I’m leaving it as it has taken me so long to get this written. Anyway they released him back to the NH 4 hrs later with antibiotics.

Saturday. My DIL threw Dude a 40th birthday surprise party. Several people came, some of his old friends he used to work with at Briggs before they moved overseas, and others. My sister was there too and I told her I was going on up to the NH since when I called dad’s cell it went straight to vmsg. Her too she said and we figured he’d misplaced it or it wasn’t charged etc, etc. Mickey (oldest granddaughter) and J were with us and once we got on the interstate I told Ruby to use my phone and call the NH just cause. Wow! Good thing as they had sent dad to the ER again. So we went to the hospital ER instead. Things had gone to hell in hand basket so to speak. All of his stats were bad. They couldn’t get any response from him except with extreme stimuli. He sounded like he had a lake in his lungs. Oxygen level critical, kidney function critical, white platelets not good, and more things than I can remember not good. ER doctor asked if he had a DNR.

Jump to Sunday morning. Awake and jabbering up a storm. Stats slowly getting better except he made no sense. We refer to it as “looney tune” talk.

So much more, but I don’t want to type it and you don’t want to read it. Dad was released back to the NH today. All of his physical problems have improved enough that they don’t need to keep him in the hospital. His mental....so far the same.

So that is what’s been happening. I’m so tired I could hide but I can’t hide as everyone calls me so the phones seem to never cease except at night. Oh and btw, before cell phones, smart phones, Iphones, Androids, you could at least have some escape sometimes. Yes, I know, can turn them all off. Or not answer unless but I do and I will.

The good news is, J was released from care from the wound clinic. He has to wear compression stuff on both legs but he doesn’t have to go back.

J just got home from work so I’m saving this and getting it posted. Oh I got an email from the OD DM yesterday. Wonder if he reads us in PB?
