Well, seems like its been awhile!

Bet most of you have forgotten all about me! LOL Still alive n kicking and so much has happened in the 20 months since I wrote last.
First and foremost we moved home last July. If you remember my middle daughter lived in Cornwall, as did my son for a while until he came back to live with us. Dawn and I decided it was time we did something for ourselves, to spend more time together on our own. We found a lovely bungalow in a small village called Sticker, 5 miles outside St. Austell in Cornwall. Not only was it a nice 2-bedroomed place for us, it had a double-garage that had been converted into a 1-bed annex so Lee had his own space. Perfect. So the deal was done, we moved from Bourne (sadly ‘cos we did love that place!) and embarked on our new life in the Duchy of Cornwall, 15 minutes from the sea, among really friendly people. I’m still working from home in the same job and no intention of changing that until I retire in 5 or 6 years time.

Fast forward a few months, Dawn and I were taking it in turns to go up north to visit Paula (eldest daughter) and grandsprogs, who were still near our old place. Logan, eldest grandson, is in Secondary school and getting ready for his big exams next year, Jayden, middle one, goes to the Secondary next September and Kelsie (youngest) is doing really well in her Junior school. Hence they would not be in a situation where they could move down to be with us.
Dawn was finding she was missing them so much, and the traveling 5 ½ hours there and back, and being away from each other for a few days is not the plan we had for our lives down here. So, after discussions with Lee, the decision was made that we would move back to the Bourne area to be close to them again. Lee, is going to stay down here in Cornwall as he does love it down here. I’m a little disappointed as I love it here too. Dawn and Paula are really close and always have been as neither of them work and they used to spend a lot of time together and basically, Dawn hasn’t got that down here.
Vicki, our daughter here, works full time, has a partner and her own life, and while we still see her often, its not as often as Paula and Dawn did. So I can totally understand why Dawn wants to move and I am not bitter about it at all. Being ex-Forces I am used to moving around and to be honest, I’m happy to live anywhere as long as I am with her.
We have found a new place in the area and, in actual fact, it’s in the same village as Paula and the family. We couldn’t have been luckier. We have sold this place and agreed a deal with the new one so are just waiting for a date to move now. We think maybe early in October will be D-Day!
Sadly with the move down south my bike was a casualty of said move. To be honest, we needed the extra cash to pay for things like the removal company which was around $4,000. At this time, I still haven’t got another on. Having reached the big 60 this year, my family are keen that I don’t get another one. I have said I won’t but am missing it like crazy. I might end up getting a Trike to satisfy both of us. At least I shouldn’t fall off a Trike or get T-boned by a car!

I DID buy an air rifle…….or two! As well as 5 air pistols!! Yep, I’ve got into it big time and really enjoying it. Lee has actually got back into it too and has a rifle and pistol. I’ve also introduced the grandsprogs into the joys of it and SiL has got one too. He had one when he was a kid so its something they can enjoy together too.

Pet-wise, we’ve still got the 2 cats and 3 dogs. They’ve all enjoyed themselves down here. Although not long after moving here, George (the 3-legged cat) cost us a fortune as he had an eye problem. We don’t know if he got into another fight or caught his eye on a tree branch, but he badly scratched it, became infected and caused an abscess. He ended up having to have a skin graft on his eye! This has pretty much covered his right pupil so now he is a 3-legged 1-eyed cat! I have said he’s used all his 9 lives and now is being removed to cat heaven a bit at a time!

Other possibly interesting happenings, Paula has now got her own Aromatherapy business and is doing really well. She uses the essential oils all the time and the kids have benefitted from it. We had a worrying time over Kelsie, our granddaughter, for a while last year, She was complaining of stomach ache a lot after eating. After a bit of questioning I suggested she may be gluten-intolerant. Off to the GP, loads of tests and about 3 weeks later the doctor says she is Gluten-intolerant! Anyway, change of diet and she is much better.
As for me, still working on the same telephone support line job and enjoying it. I feel that I am quite well-respected in the team being one of the longest serving on the project now as a lot have left, moved on to other projects. I am also just about to undergo a Reiki course to become a Practitioner in that. I have had interest in alternative therapies for some time. I am writing regularly for our company Newsletter about them, and Reiki has really piqued my interest, so Watch This Space!
(Hopefully, I’ll write more!)

So I think I have caught you up to date on the moves and meanderings of the RNBiker household. Maybe I better find a different pen-name now!

Hugz, people
