I’m beginning to think it might be time to change my job. Now don’t get me wrong. I enjoy working from home, I like the team I work with, the company I work for is one of the best global companies in its field, the project I work on (MS and Growth Hormone) is interesting and the patients are nice too. But the company we are under contract to are becoming a real pain in the ass. In the 5 years I have been with this project our team has gone from 18 personnel down to 10. We had 12 Field-based nurses(FBNs) to begin with, covering the whole country. This was cut down to 4 last January, still covering the whole country! I was one of the lucky ones and switched from Field-based to Telephone Support 2 years ago, hence working from home. I now have it on good authority that the company now wants NO FBNs and only telephone support. This is an interesting development as the FBNs trained the patients how to use the self-injection devices. So who will do the training now?
We will also lose one of our Field Managers as there will be no Field Nurses to manage! I have heard that this Manager will be moved to a new project and will be keen to take some of the nurses working on our project, with her. As I said, it might be time for a change! This will be working for a totally different contracted client company, so it will be a double win. Only drawback is that I may have to go “back into the field” which means being back on the road. Not such a big deal I guess. I have had a couple of good years working from home and I will get another fully financed company car.
This is not for definite yet, but is an extremely probable possibility. Watch this space.
This has all come at a time when we are moving back up north. We have actually got a date of October 31st as our moving date and are looking forward to it. I have got 10 days leave so we can sort things out at the new place. It’s a 3-bed bungalow which means I get one room solely as my office, instead of sharing it as a spare bedroom. Once again, it has a decent sized drive , big enough for about 3 cars so that will be good too. And the icing on the cake is, it is in the same village as my daughter and the family. Grandsprogs are delighted as you can guess. We will be within walking distance so I am sure we will see a lot of them.
This weekend has been more packing and the place is littered with boxes. There’s not much more to pack. Only the stuff we use daily has been left out, and we have the weekend and the Monday to finish up those, before we move on the Tuesday.
So it looks like it could be new starts in life and career in the near future.
Wonder what else will be new? They say things come in 3’s, don’t they?
