Defend

Ever present your affliction –
Forgotten kindness and frill.
Waiting for the insurrection –
To take away your stifled will.

Lost and flawless your complection,
Dead and lifeless, body falls,
Sought an ending to confusion
Left with nothing after all.

Do you believe the scarlett letters
Still penned in shaken ink?
After all this crucifixion,
There’s no promise left to link.

Will you remember when I’m older?
Will you take me by the hand?
Emptiness still surrounds us
Stealing happiness from the land.
