The Shadows

The setting sun
Draws the blinds
On this day of burning.
To the Shadows,
The coming night
Leaves only the discerning.

Stand up, fair sky,
Above the sea of pines;
Darkness hiding contours
And symbolic, fretful lines.

The dawning day
Awakens the Shadows
Left at dusk yearning.
Their re-birth,
In fertile daylight,
Shows less to the learning.
