And Then They Leave Us

Heightened insight
And jolly graces –
Happy times
And sullen faces.

They bring us here
In their virtual world –
And bridge the gap
With their lives unfurled.

And then they leave us.

We say, “goodbye,”
And “See you soon!”
But somehow know
For’er we’ll swoon.

Waiting for them to return
Brings tears –
Perhaps we’ll see them again
One of these years.

And then they leave us.

We enjoy their writings
And their songs.
We enjoy reading about them
Whether short or long.

We love to see how their lives
Are so much like the ones we live.
It lets us know we’re not alone
When we face new challenges.

And then they leave us.

We’ll wave goodbye
To another named Beth
As she moves forward in life
Wishing us all the best.

We send her on her way tonight
With a sullen, but happy fret –
We’ll keep her in our hearts
And will never ever forget.

For Beth. May you find hope within yourself and never forget your cyber friends.
