She Waits
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She waits by herself
For her feelings to subside.
She holds on to memories
Too difficult to hide.
At night she waits
For sleep to overtake –
To pass out cleanly
So nightmares can’t awake.
One day her wait will be over
And she’ll be able to be open;
She’ll let her tears roam
And be free to come home.
She’ll wait and wait
Until she can wait no more.
The floodgates will open
And her feelings will outpour.
Until that day comes
She’ll wait with her hands freezing.
She’ll re-begin her life;
A new beginning with reason.
