Today is the last day of summer vacation. Tomorrow Kayla and Timmy start tenth grade and Aaron starts seventh grade.

We have had a quiet end of summer. We went to the beach and park several times. The kids did some bike riding. Timmy is on the school soccer team. The practices started a couple of weeks ago. Kayla is taking dance and gymnastics. She decided she wanted to be in the senior dance group this year. They have lessons every day after school. She decided not to do diving this year, since she couldn’t really do both and still keep up with her schoolwork. Kayla and Timmy will be taking Advanced Placement Global Studies and Biology, so they will need time for homework.

This will be Aaron’s first year of changing classes. He had orientation yesterday morning. The kids practiced getting to each of their classes and opening their lockers. Aaron is in the same school as he was in sixth grade. He is in the middle school section now. There was a meeting about the clubs available at the school. Aaron has decided to go out for cross-country and the robotics club. He has done some running over the summer and when he was at camp, so I think this will be a good activity for him. There is a state robotics competition and the kids will be designing a project.

The twins will be turning sixteen in May and will be able to get learners permits. They will have to take a written test before they can get the learners permits. Then they will have to do a lot of practice and take a driver education course. I am trying to model good driving habits.
