Ten Brilliant Things I Experienced After 75

  1. Toasted sandwiches of cheddar cheese covered with grated beets placed on seeded whole grain bread.
  2. Listening to the funny stories of senior citizens’ lives in a writing class.
  3. Two bright orange butterflies hanging fluttering unusually long over the patio in clear sight of my sunroom
  4. Dreaming about the dead of a snowy winter while taking a nap on a hot summer’s day’s.
  5. Re-reading the poem on the statue of Liberty’s base.
  6. Finding buds on the night blooming epiphyllum that I thought would die when I moved here last November
  7. The realization that it is highly likely Trump is suffering from a kind of dementia and cannot help but display it.
  8. The scent of newly picked tomatoes
  9. The scent and pliable feel of newly picked green beans
  10. My favorite perfume’s scent, that of roses and violets.

I never even realised there WAS a poem on the Statue of Liberty's base!

Trump with dementia. The very thought😱

Have now read it. Ironic words in these troubled times for America!

Finding buds on a night blooming anything sounds pretty miraculous to me.

You are so right...once Kermit and I stood in the dark of our yard and counted 39 blooms fully open and I felt it was too much glory for just two people to absorb.

So confession: Sometimes through a combination of dark feelings and browser autocomplete, i find myself at https://www.reddit.com/r/grilledcheese/ where my palate wakes and my mood is soothed as I imagine what things taste like.
