So…big news! I put a very desperate post on Facebook asking for my friends and family to help watch my kids (for money, of course) for a couple days so C would be able to come with me to Seattle for at least the graduation ceremony part.
And somehow, it seems like it’s worked out! C will be there from noon on August 15th until 4:30 am on the 17th. It does mean we will miss A’s birthday, and we’ll be getting home about seven hours apart (I get in at 10 am on the 17th, and he gets there closer to 5 pm), and we’ll be up all night, probably recovering from a hangover. BUT, he will be there to see me accomplish this huge goal I’ve been working toward for almost as long as I’ve known him. I’m so happy that it’s worked out…I can’t even put it into words. I’m not an overly expressive person.
It does mean we will miss A’s second birthday, but he isn’t aware of the event. And we will definitely be celebrating when we get back. It’s sucky, but I’m not going to dwell too much on it. Just happy to enjoy this moment with the person I want to spend it with most.
