Just Get Along, Darn it! (more added on....) in A New Beginning

So, these next two weeks our manager, Sophia, is out at work. She’s having a small malignant breast lump removed. Her doctor feels sure he’ll be able to get it all, but I bet she is still worried a bit. I’m sure I would be if I were in her shoes!
Since Sophia’s out, Lori is taking her place as manager and I am taking Lori’s place as Baker. That means I have to be there an hour earlier than my usual. I don’t like that, but admittedly it doesn’t really hurt me any! The overtime pay will be nice! I don’t really like the job of Baker. I like my own job (which Jen is coming in to do). But once I’m doing it, I don’t actually mind it much. Like being at work an hour early....it’s just the THOUGHT of it that sucks, not the actual doing of it. I have a number of things on that list; do you?
Lori is one of those people who almost demands that things be done her way. She does this by listing a zillion REASONS why her way is the best way, and our manager dislikes confrontation so much that ever since Lori’s been there, she’s LET Lori have her way. When Lori is Cook (Cook and Baker switch positions every other month), many of the ways she does things are not the best and are a real pain-in-the-ass to everyone else…such as the workers who have to serve the food. AND BOY SHE DOES NOT TAKE WELL TO BEING TOLD THAT HER WAY OF DOING THINGS IS WRONG.
Once upon a time I disliked confrontation as much as Sophia does, but I’m not that way anymore. I DO choose my battles wisely, though, because I don’t go to work to quarrel with another worker all the time.
GEEZ! I had to set this aside yesterday, and I meant to put it in “Drafts” to finish later. Instead I posted it, and have already receive two comments! Oh well; here’s the rest....
As I’d been saying, Lori is a bit of a pain in everyone’s ass at times. But I’m the sort who can say “This person is sometimes a pain in my ass,” and still basically LIKE the person. Lori and I get along great most of the time. She is very funny too, and we laugh at each other’s jokes and antics, and ya can’t beat that. Moreover, in spite of her foibles when she’s Cook, she does great, I think, when she’s filling in as manager. Sophia is retiring at the end of this year, and Lori plans to apply for her job. To be honest, I hope she gets it. I doubt that she will, because she will be the person with the least seniority applying, but who knows? She might, and I won’t mind a bit.
ON THE OTHER HAND…there are people who are not able to like someone, if the person does any THINGS they dislike. My co-worker Sheila is one of these. And to my mind, this is ridiculous for two reasons: (1) Sheila is the oldest of us, and even though I am well aware that many people do not grow a bit wiser as they age, I still think they damn well ought to. Aaaaand, Sheila thinks herself a devout Christian, and surely knowing how to give and take, and get along, ought to be a part of that.
Soooooooooo, before Sophia left, she gave Lori the new schedule of work assignments. We switch positions at the start of each month, and Sophia told Lori that we might as well move to our new positions yesterday since a couple of posts were going to have to be different anyway, with Lori doing her job, me doing Lori’s job, and Jen doing my job. One of the changes was, Sheila was going to move from being main server on line three to being main server on line two. In other words....doing the same thing she’s been doing, just on line two instead of line three.
BOY DIDN’T SHE RAISE HELL ABOUT IT! Bitch, bitch, bitch. Even with the kids coming in to eat lunch, she was still standing there bitching. I said, “It doesn’t really make much difference,” which pissed her off further, so now she’s mad at me too. Tiring, tiring, tiring I tell you. Sheila complains about almost everything anyway, not just Lori. She doesn’t like to work with Brad; she didn’t like to work with Tabitha (who recently quit); apparently she doesn’t like to work with our new substitute Kelsey who is (in her words) “just like Tabitha.” And when she works with me, she tries to make everything HER way regardless of which one of us is the main server and which one the assistant.
We all wish she would just retire. I mean, seriously, she has enough time in and she has another full-time job anyway, so pulleeeeeeeze, if you are miserable on the job, JUST RETIRE! Oooooooh. Myyyyyy. Gawwwwwd.

I will never understand why some people stay in jobs they can't stand,
I too can like someone, an awful lot even and not like everything about them,
have a great day!!!
