what a week! the week before spring break is always an interesting one. i decided to just have fun with the kids instead of trying to do assessments and full out lessons. it was a good decision!

mainly working on spring concert music (keep them singing in order to stop them from talking lol) and then games and books and dancing. one of my first graders is an irish step dancer and has been teaching her class some irish step dancing. she is adorable! my school has a large population of students with autism and she is in one of the NEST classes (more self contained class for students with autism). her class has 14 kids in it and they are very receptive towards each other. basically, i try out everything i want to do with this class to see how it will work and then modify lol. they’re great! anyway, she has taught her class and then I’ve been teaching the rest of of my classes. all the kids have been loving it! i’m excited to do my folk dancing unit later this year :)

my knee has been uncooperative this week…sore, stiff, and painful. it’s been raining most of the week, so i know that has something to do with it. yesterday was especially rainy and yucky. i was not in a good mood. decided to play some piano in the morning to wake up and refocus. it was much needed! dann’s boss found out i played piano and sent dann music to his favorite and “the most beautiful song”…Pachelbel’s Canon in D…and asked if i could play it. rolls eyes yeah…of course i can…so i decided yesterday i’ll work on it. I’ve played it many times on the violin, but not on piano ever, so it’ll be a fun exercise since i know it well already.

in other health news, my ENT appointment has been rescheduled every week for almost a month (yeah…) the doctor finally called me yesterday, explaining i was the only appointment in the afternoon and he had rounds to do at the hospital, blah blah blah…and they have another office closer to my job. i wish i knew that ahead of time…so i need to call today and set up my appointments there. he said the doctor there is available on fridays, which would be perfect for me! i don’t think I’ve written about this in awhile…i have either a polyp or a nodule on my vocal chords (from cheerleading and singing loudly at gymboree and yelling and over using my voice as a music teacher). i was given anti-inflammatory medicine when I originally saw the ENT, which worked wonders. i’m able to sing easier and higher (back in my old range!), but they want me to have a stroboscopy (sp) and a swallow study for acid reflux. let’s hope i get this over with soon!

alright, i better get some work done…or at least go practice some piano for my classes later. listening to the beauty and the beast soundtrack right now…probably going to ask dann to take me to see it tonight. later!
