I’m having a healthy day. No alcohol, running at the gym and trying to stay away from technology. The day’s been good. Memories of Ms F have been few and far between, and those I’ve had have been distant, less intense.
Wilson helps. He’s spent the day around me. Watching. Sitting by my side. The mere presence of him makes me smile. And when I stop and sit in the sun he gets onto my lap and settles down, purring and being with me, keeping me company and helping me go on.
Between Wilson and Nic and my friends, I realise I’m very lucky to have so many individuals caring about me.
Almost three months, I’ll be in Ireland again soon in the next couple of weeks, then Venice. I wonder how the memories of Ms F will present themselves in either place. At least I’ll have someone to hold me at night and love me and make new memories. And the memories of Ms F will perhaps fade and recede. Only time will tell.
