I finished reading “Insane Clown President: Dispatches from the 2016 Circus” by Matt Taibbi.

Two quotes from the book:

“America has been trending stupid for a long time.”

“A lot of American culture is just dumb slobs cheering on other dumb slobs.”

There were many other salient quotes but those were the ones I chose to write down to remember.

As soon as I finished that book Liam Dog and I walked to the library to return it and check out the book waiting, which was “Infernal Parade” by Clive Barker. It was a novella so I was able to read it in one sitting yesterday. A nice read.

I have four books remaining on my “hold” list. And three of them haven’t even been assigned call numbers yet, that’ s how new they are. And the other one I’m 7 out of 8 holds and it is an eleven hundred pager so it may be a bit.

In the meantime I’m re-reading another novel I read back in 2000. Where did seventeen years go.

And speaking of years going. I google street viewed the street I lived on from 1963 to 1974. I guess the most remarkable still recognized thing was the apartments that were built after the houses across the street were moved out. They were very cheaply and shoddily built and I find it remarkable that nearly fifty years later they are still standing.

And our old house is still there. After 111 years it is still standing (it was built in 1906!). Almost unrecognizable with the add-ons, but still there. It was sitting on a quarter acre lot when we lived in it. Now the lot has been split in half and a new house sits in the old front yard, and took the old address. Dad would be mortified. So the old house doesn’t even have its old address. The address is now the street behind with a new driveway and garage. And the new front door looks like it enters through the old dining room.

Anyway, things look the same out this window here. No mobs on the street yet. Copacetic.

Better Call Saul season 3 starts up tonight!

Does America's trend toward stupid include the election of Obama or just those that disagree with our personal politics?

Trend towards stupid is the belief that anyone can make the government work anymore.

Deleted user Neogy Titwhistle ⋅ April 11, 2017

shrugs The idea that government can fix your problems is the worst of socialism. Successful people are those that don't wait on others to dig them out of their hole. Government just gets in the way of that.

“A lot of American culture is just dumb slobs cheering on other dumb slobs.”

This is why the left lost the election. This manner of thinking. That liberals positions are inherently right and just and the only people who would ever be against them are those poorly educated backwoods inbred slobs. I've not read the book you referenced but I have read others that expressed similar views. I have been a lifelong democrat, even voted for dukakas, followed the issues, paid attention, Last year I voted for trump and i have never been so happy with a vote I have cast. The more the left try to turn their loss into a personal attack on the voters, rather than an examination of their facist policies the more they will continue to lose.

No such thing as left vs. right anymore. I think if you knew what a fascist is you'd know how to spell it.

DeadAir Neogy Titwhistle ⋅ April 11, 2017

how curious, Im going to guess you must live on an island somewhere in the south pacific or perhaps a moon orbiting Pluto ? The US, where I live is more polarized politically than it has ever been, as is most of the world today here on earth. Though I am quite used to Libtards responding with ad hominem attacks when they can't respond with a fact based argument. I was typing on my phone before but please allow me to spell fascist correctly for you so your sense of condescending superiority can be maintained, and I know exactly what one is, I see them in Antifa and on campuses across this nation rioting, with violence and starting fires whenever anyone dares to express an opinion they don't agree with.

Neogy Titwhistle DeadAir ⋅ April 11, 2017

You can type but not proofread on a phone? Um . . . anti-fascism is a bad thing? Polarized politically? Yep, that's it, people with common sense vs. people with no sense.

DeadAir Neogy Titwhistle ⋅ April 11, 2017

ah, I see youre new to the internet. You see, when people type here in comments or responses they often may make mistakes with the occasional word, or use of grammar. This is commonly known as being human when typing with a touchscreen. and speaking of People with no sense... you can't see that its the fascists who are calling themselves anti fascists. Trump supporters don't riot or smash peoples faces for speaking their thoughts. They don't boycott speakers on college campuses and steamroll freedom of expression. You need to take a hard look at what exactly it is you are supporting.

Neogy Titwhistle DeadAir ⋅ April 12, 2017

I'm only supporting common sense. New to the internet? Umm . . . yeah, March 1993, the month Tim Berners-Lee released the World Wide Web onto the existing internet. So yeah, new to the internet. I guess you missed the televised violence cheered on by Drumpf at his rallies?
