Dr. Who in Random Thoughts

I know it’s been a while, just bear with me.
I’ve heard that Peter Capaldi is stepping down from Dr. Who this year. After his role in “The Thick of It” and “In the Loop”, I’ve kept waiting to hear Dr. Who drop a “Oh for f!k sake!”, or something equally explicit during a stressful moment. Kinda disappointed he didn’t go on a massive rant like that. Ah well.
I remember when David Tenant regenerated into Matt Smith, The Doctor says “And I’m still not ginger!!” So I’m hoping this time it’ll be a ginger. They’ve got Kris Marshall listed as a possibility as the new Doctor, which, even if he’s not ginger, he could pass for one. That’d be a nifty nod to Doctor’s past. Another potential is Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I’ll admit I’m not familiar with her, but what I’ve read of her, she’d be good. But they have one pick who I’d love to see as the new Doctor:
Anthony Head.
I got hooked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer series by the twiggy little blonde I was dating in 2001. Anthony Head played, honestly, my favorite character, Rupert Giles, the librarian, and also Buffy’s watcher. He proved himself as asset to the cast, he pretty much bound everything together, and did so with style and class. Plus, in the episode “Once More with Feeling” he also showed he can sing very well. So if I had a choice on who became the next face of The Doctor, I’d pick Anthony Head.
I also think it would be good to have a woman be the next face of The Doctor. As much as the Potterhead in me wants to say Emma Watson, I just don’t think she’d be well perceived. She’s too well known as “Hermoine”, and I think she might be a bit to sweet to be able to adequately pull off the complexities of The Doctor. I would also say Rupert Grint since he’s definitely giner, but he’s a bit too daft.
I also think it would be an astounding plot twist to the series if the next regeneration turns to out be Amy Pond (Karen Gillian). A former companion, killed by the Weeping Angels, returns as the Doctor. She’d have to have a different companion instead of Rory. I just can’t see that working out well. Although they could really surprise everyone and have Matt Smith be her companion. Talk about a plot twist.
