The child was transferred to (another hospital in a bigger city that specializes w/ babies) where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. He is currently listed in satisfactory condition there.

Mrs. (friend), after being questioned by police yesterday, was released at (police chief’s) recommendation. Other children in the family…include a 4-year- old-son, currently living in a foster home, and a 2-month-old daughter.

According to police, Mrs. (friend) and the children living with her, lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. (my biological parents) and their six children. (Chief) said the house…was declared unfit for human habitation and everyone there will have to be relocated.

(Official) of the Code Enforcement Bureau said his office was not directly involved in the case, but had been contacted by Child Welfare representatives yesterday morning and asked to investigate a number of problems and possible unsafe or unsanitary conditions found in the house.

“We inspected the home and found a number of electrical and plumbing problems and several code violations,” he said.

The house was posted as “unfit” and (official), county Housing Authority secretary, was contacted about finding other quarters for the families living there.

“When we say a house is unfit, we don’t go in and throw the people out on the street,” (official) said. “We help them find another place.” He added that with the number of children involved in this case, there may be a delay in finding a suitable place.
