Where has the time gone? in Just in Case

It seems like I turn around and weeks have gone by. I hate that. Things here have been fine. School continues. I’m settling into the new grade. Morale at school has taken a hit. Our numbers keep going up, and what that means, unfortunately, is that we’re getting students who aren’t always the best. Several of our students recently are ones who were just short of being kicked out of their school. Consistency of discipline isn’t what it should be. A few of our new kids have sticky fingers. When you end up spending more time dealing with disruptions to the classroom that you do teaching, it gets frustrating. We’re not having as much an issue in 5th, but the group coming up..... totally different story. One, after you get on to him will smack his lips and say, “Mannnnn, you need to chill out.” Another called out one of our 4th grade teachers with the comment that she’s a big talker, but she never follows through with. I am not looking forward to this group.
I spent last night at my aunt’s house. My cousin went out of town for a few days for a church conference. My aunt won’t stay by herself at night, so she needed someone to stay with her. We had parent/teacher conference last night. I was already tired, then I had a 12 hour day at work, followed by a long night at Aunt D’s. (80 year old, it had to have been 90 degrees in there, the bed is awful, you sleep in a hole…I’m glad I was able to help, but it was a long night.) There was a new show on the game show network, so Steve Harvey wasn’t on. 18 or so minutes of steady (as in literally keeping her finger on the button to make it change) running through 200 or so channels looking for Steve Harvey (Family Feud). God love her. lol Technically there are 4 bedrooms, but one is her sewing room, one is my cousin’s office, so that left the master (my cousin sleeps in there, and the spare where I slept). Aunt D sleeps in her recliner (and has for 40+ years). So then it was trying to be as quiet as humanly possible while she slept. There was no tv in the spare, no radio, no desk/table to finish grading papers, and no fan. lol Plus, I’m pretty sure that’s the same mattress I used to sleep on when I stayed with Aunt D as a kid. So, my aching back is looking forward to my mattress tonight. I will gladly do it again, but I will sleep in my cousin’s room. lol
Now I’m off to try and catch up with y’all. I hate that I’ve missed so much.

If I hadn't been so brain-numbingly tired already it wouldn't have been as bad. I'll be better prepared next time, and come up with a good reason why I should stay in my cousin's room. lol
