Aloha…

As you long time readers are aware… my home backs up to the Harris Beach State park… about 30 feet away from my back deck…

On any given day… there is a myriad of wildlife hanging out in the forest… and in my back yard…

Last year a herd of elk came through on two separate days… and deer are almost daily visitors…

A bear visits a couple of times a year… and neighbors have seen both mountain lions and a wildcat…

There is a family of foxes… numerous raccoons… possums… rabbits (the cute little kind)… numerous birds including quail and turkeys… also blue jays… doves… wrens and sparrows…

There is even a (small) hawk that seems to enjoy one of the branches out back…

Also chipmunks and squirrels galore… also enjoyed by the (small) hawk…

I have several bird baths in the yard… and it always brings a smile to my face to see the different birds and animals using them…

Thanks for drifting by…

Aloha oe…

We have a greenbelt behind our neighborhood and the dog park across the road from our neighborhood. Bobcats, raccoons, rabbits, and snakes live there and scavenge in the neighborhood after dark. Well, the snakes slither where they please when they please, I suppose. We get all the migrating birds in winter. Year round, we have scrub jays, cardinals, mockingbirds, doves, and owls. We also have buzzards, red tail hawks, and eagles. Oh, and herons of all sorts. I think my favorite birds are the pileated woodpeckers and snow white egrets. There are a few small alligators around, but they stay in the ponds over at the dog park.

This sounds really nice... (smiles)

What a perfect spot. It must be wonderful to sit out on your deck and see these animals!

Yes... and something just a bit different each day...

What a wonderful variety of wildlife. I would not want to live in a city because I would miss what we have here way too much.

Yes... I feel the same...

I have a national forest in my backyard, too. I don't get quite the variety of critters that you do, though. I bet you really enjoy getting to watch them all.

Yes... it really is a joy...
