Well, it took much less than a month for the state of Ohio to get the information they had on my birth and adoption and get it to me. I literally got 2 pieces of paper in the mail. The first is my original, unadulterated birth certificate with my given name (I seriously don’t think I look like a “Betty Louise”), as well as the names of my biological parents. The second paper was the court sheet with my parent’s information and their lawyer’s name.
I was able to Google my biological father with the information available on my birth certificate. He passed away June 20, 2016. There was an online memorial page for him made by the funeral home/crematorium with a picture and a little bit of information. From that information and a small payment to beenverified.com, I was able to obtain the address of a man who is a brother, and given his age, may actually be fully related to me. It appears my bio dad and mom divorced and he remarried… he only had 4 children listed in the obit, and my parents were told I had about 7 siblings. I am contemplating sending a letter to my bio brother and asking for any health information, or any other information he may be willing to give.
I couldn’t find anything on ancestry, but I did find a hit on Been Verified for my bio mom. There is actually an email for her, and I just shot an email off to her. I’m honestly not even sure if I will even hear back, and BV has a current mailing address, so if I don’t hear back within a month, I may write snail mail.
