Snow Day! Snow Day!!!! :o) !!!! in A New Beginning

We got around six inches of snow here on Saturday, but some places around us got as much as ten or even twelve. It’s funny how that works! Anyhow, Sunday it was sunny and beautiful but stayed good ‘n cold, and the result is that our roads are still icy and THERE IS NO SCHOOL TODAY. Joe, being a twelve-month employee, had to work, but not at his usual super-early time. Ten-month employees like me were given the choice of either go to work or make it up at the end of the year. I wouldn’t have had much of anything to do at work today, with no kids at school, so here I am! And this is right where I want to be, too! :o) !!
Of course, staying home all weekend has not come without a price, darn it. My body feels better when I’m a lot more active. And I haven’t been, so I’m fairly sore. But hey, I am not of a mindset to force activities I don’t really want. If the roads were clear, I’d drive to one of the parks and go hiking. But they’re not, and I don’t care that much for driving on bad roads. I go with Joe when he walks Guinness. And I am interspersing sitting here or lying on the couch reading with getting off my arse and doing houseworky things. No one will ever say I try to be SuperWoman and I am fine with that!
Ya know, I absolutely loathe housework and am not good at it. Oh, I really enjoy cooking, and kinduv enjoy dishes and laundry. Which is a good thing, because if those things never got done, it would be pretty disastrous! But just routinely cleaning things or “tidying up” is just not my thing. One reason I hate “tidying up” is that I married a man who is not tidy and is very much like a gigantic pack rat, and I’m not about to expend my time and energy moving around someone else’s stuff that they’re just going to strew all over the place again anyway! I AM going to make a concerted effort this year to do somewhat better with actual CLEANING, though. Joe helps, when I pester him enough, and it kinda irks me that I have to tell him two dozen times before he does something, but I still prefer that to doing all of it myself! Yes, I am that stubborn! ;o) I told him that if I sweep all the bare floors three times a week, I want him to vacuum the carpets once a week. If I don’t remind him to do it, that’ll be my fault, so I WILL remind him.
And I told him that if I clean the tub/shower and bathroom sinks & counters once a week, I want him to clean the toilets once a week. Again, he won’t remember, but I don’t think people are being malicious when they forget stuff! They’re just forgetting. I’ll remind him two dozen times and he’ll do it.
I really MIGHT go somewhere today, though. I am getting a bit of cabin fever! Besides, surely there will be school tomorrow, so I might as well drive on the roads today. I don’t know. There is so much idle time to try to make up one’s mind on a snow day! My sister Sandy warmed her car up and drove around the block yesterday, and said the roads were a slick of ice. Then she walked to her mailbox and fell on her butt! I am glad she didn’t actually get hurt, though.
(continued several hours later) Welp, I ended up not going anywhere. I did some more houseworky stuff, and then watched a little tv. Then Joe came home and we talked and took Guinness for a walk. Then we laid down for a nap, which was really nice because the bed is the only warm place in this house today!! But then my friend from work, Jennifer, called to tell me some workplace drama and I got up to talk with her because I wanted to hear it. And now here I am again!
I am wondering if this cold weather has anything to do with me being sorer than usual lately.
Joe already got a call about his school district being closed tomorrow. I’m wondering if mine will be too. Do I want another at-home day?? I’ll admit, I am just about getting my fill of being at home! If we work, will we do today’s menu, since we missed today?? I hope not. Because today was going to be meatball subs! Those are not the worst thing by any means, but nor are are they the easiest. I really just don’t like driving on back roads that are still half-covered by snow or ice, as they are. Joe says I have nothing to worry about since my car is a 4WD Subaru, but to me it still feels rather iffy!! Oddly enough, our temperatures are supposed to get up to SIXTY by Thursday, so this snow certainly won’t be around much after that. Sixty is ridiculous in January! But it does make for easier driving!
I’m not sure how to end this, so I’m just going to stop writing and wish anyone who’s reading it a nice evening.

I love a good meatball sub but can't imagine making that many of them,
sounds like a new few days off, I can understand being on the fence about tomorrow,
I detest doing the tub myself, it just kills my back,
stay warm, have a good night!!!
