Well fiddle-lie-fee! in A New Beginning

This is my last day of Christmas break, but I am not unhappy about having to go to work tomorrow. One thing happened that has made working at my school so much more palatable than it has been, and that is the addition of a new cook/baker, Jennifer, who is much more “my kind of person” than the other co-workers are. :o) !!
When I first started working at my school, James (a retired army CMSgt) was our Cook and Connie, our Baker. Connie hated James, and pal-ed around with me. Plus, although James and I fought from time to time, he and I were buddies and enjoyed reminiscing about military life and the many places we had been. Even though James could be difficult at times, he was a damn good cook! But he retired, and in came LORI.
Lori was hired for one reason only! She got hired because Connie hated the other candidate, Britainie. But Britainie deserved the job and would’ve been a much better cook. Lori was just as difficult as James, without the saving grace of being a good cook!! For awhile, she and Connie pal-ed around, thus leaving me without anyone to gab with over the morning work. They had this extremely annoying and rude woman-habit of putting their heads close together and talking in hushed tones so everyone else wonders what the big secret is and who they are talking about. But in time, since Lori was a pretty lazy worker and Connie a hard worker, Connie began to hate Lori!!
And if you are noticing a trend here, you’ve definitely gotten it…Connie hates practically everybody! I never heard anyone use the word “hate” as much, and always in reference to people! The only times she says “love,” it’s in relation to some thing, as in “I love my new house,” “I love Hobby Lobby,” or “I love Chick Fi-let.”
Anyhow, though....then came last year, THE WORST, when Connie was going to retire at the end of the year anyway, so she stopped working hard and along with hating almost everyone her motto became “I’m retiring! I really don’t care!!”
I was in a hurry for her to retire, because her lousy attitude was bringing mine down. And we really didn’t need another worker doing their best to avoid work!
Well, so Jennifer got hired and SHE IS AWESOME. Now she and Lori trade off the cooking and baking duties each month. I love it when Jennifer cooks because she, though more than ten years younger than me, is “old school” and does the job RIGHT. And Lori is actually a good baker! And without Connie there talking about everyone, it seems that NOBODY is talking about anyone! We just all get along! It’s great. :o) It was certainly a much-needed turn-of-events.
So like I said, I’m pretty much looking forward to work tomorrow; plus it’s a new month so we all trade places. For the last month I was Main Server on Line Two, which just between me & you is a real pain-in-the-ass at times because it’s the line most of the adults come to, and the adults are SOOOO much worse than the high school students. I might be Main Server on Line Three instead, or better yet, I might be on the cash register, which I LOVE because: (1) it puts me in closer contact with the kids, whom I truly love, and (2) IT IS THE EASIEST JOB IN THE PLACE!!!!!
Today, in the morning, Wendy (still my BFF) is coming over. We have so much to catch up on! We don’t get to see each other as often now, because I’m no longer in the coven, AND we are both just busier, with me working full-time and her taking college classes and babysitting her granddaughter one or two days a week. So our time together is more treasured. It’s not really a good thing, to see those we love so often that their little (or big!) quirks start to get on our nerves! ;o)
(continued hours later....)
THERE! Wendy has come and gone. To be honest, she stayed an hour longer than I figured she would, but we still had a great time. She actually left at the same time she usually does, but I had thought she was going to leave earlier because she said that her husband Steve had today off and wanted her help with some project around the house. If that had been me, and Joe wanting my help, I would have only gone out for a few hours at the most, but Wendy prioritizes others over Steve much of the time. The extra hour did give us more time to get caught up, though! :o)
Anyhow, I am going to post this now. I feel so thankful for the notes I’ve received so far! THANK YOU, FRIENDS!
And here’s wishing you a nice rest-of-today!
