A good Christmas. in A small but passable life.

About a week or so ago we had some actual December weather with temps below freezing. Yesterday and today it was, is sixty degrees. And last night a narrow band of thunderstorm rolled through.

Christmas was nice. We had the same crowd of four for Christmas Eve dinner that we’d had for Thanksgiving. Christmas day was like any other day as the youngsters had to sleep all day to be able to work that night.

And today the youngsters have left for points north for more family Christmas gatherings until some time tomorrow. And Liam Dog went with them so I’m home alone with Asscat.

Last evening an approximately two square feet of plaster came loose from the ceiling (the slopey part of the attic?) and landed on the bed. And maybe on Liam Dog as he was pretty freaked out. It wouldn’t have been so bad if not for the dirt that came with it. I can see through the spaces in the lath with a flashlight that the roof decking has been replaced so that must be how the plaster had been knocked loose originally. Now I need to find some plastic and duct tape to cover up the lath showing and to keep more dirt from sifting down. Always something with this ancient dwelling, it seems.

I know I should be out walking while this mild weather lasts but I seem to have no motivation or desire.

On another note, wishing you a Happy New Year early my friend!

What about putting plywood , some plastic, something for insulation , then more plastic , and finally more plywood . That should give you a good temporary repair .
