But garlic not roasted. I am going to have to get up by 7am to pull this together, because unlike my younger years I am a little slow on the waking up.
I am supposed to pick up the bean at noon. That is not a hard time, just the time I told the house manager I would be over. The idea being to give the staff some time to have a bit of Thanksgiving with their own families. We are not actually going to start chowing down until 2PM.
Two days I haven’t opened the windows. I guess Winter is here. It is supposed to be a bit squeezy tomorrow. That should be fun, driving back down SR196 (the highway of death) after the sun goes down in crap weather.
Friday I am up to Glenn’s family farm where one of his workshops are. Strange dynamic. His brother now owns the farm, but he still has a workshop in the barn. They have a couple of hundred acres where Glenn gets his annual deer.
He is helping me out with the project of building my AR-15. I supposed that means I have to reciprocate and invite him for Korean ribs and black eyed peas on New Years. The problem is my dining room is tiny. And as soon as Galbi is mentioned all of my family starts salivating. Locally that is ten or so people. I have four chairs.
As is the nature of friendship, we find ourselves talking about the strangest things. Name it. We have talked about it. From the best way to keep cutlery sharp to how to skin a deer to how to respond to inadvertent IFR. We have had elaborate discussions about recovering from an inverted spin in an EA-6B (which by the way has never happened outside of a simulator.) He is not a pilot, but an engineer. Occasionally doesn’t get what is theoretically possible is not a practical response when the clock is ticking.
I feel somewhat serene. I have a bit of a plan for the new year, and the only issue is in the implementation. My inertia is so powerful now.
I am not dead yet. I still have things to do. I might need to start drinking coffee again.
Dear Santa, PLEEEESE!
