A few little things in Site Updates

Based on some feedback and my own personal experience, I decided to split out an existing setting into two settings:
- Show main background color of other users to me
- Show side bars of other users to me
For the full customization experience, leave both of these checked. However, be prepared for a little retinal shock every time you change between light and dark journals. A little bit of trying it out, and I’m pretty sure that for my own personal needs, I will be opting out of the first, but leaving the second turned on. Side bars seem to fit pretty well with either, and it adds a little something on desktops. Not really relevant for mobile since you can’t see side bars on them.

Added a setting Show my On This Day entries to visitors. You can turn this off if you feel uncomfortable having others see what you were doing in yesteryear (a small number of you have complained). I still to show it to you, but your visitors shouldn’t see it. I’ve also added the privacy level in the On This Day display. Keep in mind that privacy levels still apply; even if it’s a Members Only entry and you see a Friends Only entry show up in the side bar, that doesn’t mean everyone who sees the current entry will see the same thing in the side bar.

Since it's responsive on mobile, the side bar containing that will shift to the bottom, under all the comments. So yes, it's there. :-)

Something I'm noticing about the On This Day feature: for me, it doesn't replace a calendar. I don't write every single day, so without scrolling back through all the pages on my profile page, there isn't an easy way access those entries that don't fall on a date when I wrote this year. I'm not sure if your intention was for it to replace a calendar, but I had been really happy with it for a second, thinking it kind of did the same thing, and then realized this limitation. Thought I would share it with you. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family!

No, it was actually the subject of the calendar combined with the similar FB feature that made me think it would be something cool people would enjoy. But not a replacement. I'd still like to add calendar navigation as well. Probably something I'll add to profile/book pages.
