I need to write more.
I had a seizure at work on Tuesday October 18th. It was my first ever. All I remember was sitting at my desk doing emails and thinking about eating the sub I just got delivered and the next thing I know I’m on the floor with firemen yelling in my face. Yeah.
My sups tell me that I was shaking all over for about two to three minutes and then not responsive and in and out of it for another five minutes at least. They were scared.
I got taken to Strong by EMS, but I wasn’t critical, so was brought out to the waiting room of the ER. Holy hell. It was a zoo out there.
This all happened on a day that my mom had taken PTO from work, so she had to meet me at Strong. Her and Tommy came, he left after a couple hours though and that was better. I got brought back and seen around 5 or 6 pm. They kept doing this same test on me. squeeze my hands, don’t let me pull your hands away don’t let me press your hands towards you, lift your leg and don’t let me push it down. Basically testing to see if I had equal strength on both sides. I didn’t. My right side was noticeably weaker than my left.
They admitted me and did a CT scan, MRI and EEG. We can all relax, it is confirmed that I do, in fact, have a brain!! There were several places with evidence of trauma and slight atrophy from previous head injuries, but nothing to suggest current trauma, stroke or recurring seizures. So I was sent home with a shrug and a “That was weird, huh” from the doctors.
It took a good two weeks for the weakness to completely go away. Other than that I’ve been fine.
Weird.
