Usually our school puts on an amazing firework display on 5th November, but this year nothing has happened. I guess this is down to our PTA being a bit shit right now - we’ve had discos and cake sales cancelled recently, the fireworks weren’t even planned this year. So, in lieu of a wonderful event that cost £1 per ticket we were faced with several expensive and busy options. Expensive is out of the question, we’re utterly skint at the moment, and busy would be stressful with T as it’s one of the things that stresses her out.
Rich came up with a brilliant plan though, our localest big display is just over a mile away, right next door to our local country park. As you walk in to the country park there is a hill on the left, not a huge hill, more like a lump of earth, created when the (man made) lake was dug out over 100 years ago. That lump of earth, however, is grassed over and one of the places people head towards with sledges in the snow. This is the beginning of it, it goes a little higher around the corner from the trees on the right.
There was a great party atmosphere on top of that hill, including a large group of teenagers who had come on their bikes and were sitting around laughing and chatting, there were a few families and it was lovely. The fireworks were close enough for us to get huge amounts of enjoyment from them.
T called the middle two of these butt-cheek fireworks because they look like a bottom! They shall, forever, be known as butt-cheek fireworks!
These photos are swiped from t’internet, our view had trees in the foreground.
After the display was finished, Rich and I ambled back down the hill, holding hands. T and L ran as fast as they could. The teenagers barreled down on their bikes and everyone was happy.
We walked the mile back home, happy. The girls ready to sleep 😀
