How cool is that! Ridge cresting in the northern Cascades.
I did manage to knock a few things off the to-do list. Not as many as I should have. I have all the time in the world right now. Believe me, retirement isn’t for me. I have to have something to do or I just go dormant. I am too old to rock n roll, but much too young to die.
So back to the school website. Now looking at a BFA in Creative Writing (Fiction). I am actually laughing right now when I imagine my resume. BS In Aeronautics, MBA in Project Management, BFA in Creative Writing! It’s hilarious!
My problem is I need the discipline that comes with coursework. I can write on occasion. But I can’t follow through and finish what I start where it comes to writing. It is all too amorphous to me. I can come up with ideas, I just get bored. What I need a way to get through the mechanics to fruition.
As I calculate it, I have the basics covered. Most of the humanities classes can be waved. That leaves the writing classes.
Drawback? Being Online. All the classes are online. In the academic setting I don’t do well online. My personality is too big and doesn’t come across well online. I do much better in a classroom setting.
I am going to have to move my desk and computer into Mireya’s room. I have to get away from the distraction of the phone and the Plasma.
Worst case - I end up with another degree that does me no good in Maine. Best case - I would be actually doing something that interests me for the next couple of years. Plus I get that VA stipend of 600 bucks a month. Nothing to sneeze at.
